# Ask your first question

> Type or speak a question in plain words, then check the sources listed under the answer.

You ask in plain words, the way you would ask a colleague. TiDani looks through the files your team has shared and writes an answer from what it finds.

## Steps

1. Open **Ask**.
2. Type your question, for example "When are our vendor contracts up for renewal?" You can also [speak it](/docs/voice-questions).
3. Press send. You see progress while TiDani reads your question and searches.
4. Read the answer. The documents it used are listed with it, so you can [check the sources](/docs/answers-and-sources).

## Choose how to ask

- **Which computers.** By default TiDani asks every computer you can use. You can pick only some of them, and use **Ask all of them** to go back.
- **Deep search.** Turn it on for harder questions. It follows up on what it finds, so it is slower (up to five minutes) and more thorough.

## Your conversations

Your questions and their answers are kept in your conversation list, so you can come back to them. Only you can search your conversations. To find something in your company's files, ask a question.

To remove one, delete the conversation. It is removed permanently.

## If nothing comes back

- You may not have a computer to ask yet. Ask an admin to [share a folder](/docs/share-a-folder).
- The computer holding the answer may be off. See [when a computer is off](/docs/computer-is-off).
- You may not have the [access level](/docs/access-levels) to read the files.
