# How we handle data

> A short, plain summary of what stays on your computers, what travels, and what TiDani keeps. The privacy policy has the full detail.

This is a short summary. The full detail, including how long we keep things, is in our [privacy policy](/privacy).

## Your files

Your files and their search index stay on your own computers. TiDani keeps no copy of your files.

## When you ask a question

Only the passages needed to answer travel, encrypted in transit, to TiDani's servers and to our own AI model. They are used for that answer and are not kept. Your question is also sent to the computers in your workspace that may answer it, which can include a colleague's computer.

## What we keep

- Your account details.
- Your chat history: your questions, the answers and the names of the files they cited. It is stored encrypted, with keys unique to your workspace. For answers from deep search, short excerpts are kept with the answer too.
- Usage records for admins: who asked, when, whether it worked, and a one or two word topic. They never hold your questions or answers.
- File-type counts for each computer.

## Deleting

Deleting a conversation removes it permanently. Deleting your account starts a 30 day grace period, then your data is removed. Signing in during the grace period brings your account back.

## The AI

The AI models run on TiDani's own hardware. We do not use your documents, questions or answers to train any model.

## What this does not mean

Your data is encrypted, but TiDani manages the keys, so this is not end-to-end encryption. Read the [privacy policy](/privacy) for who can access what, and which service providers we use.
