Choose which folders on this computer your team can ask questions about. Your files stay exactly where they are, and so does the search index that TiDani builds from them.

Before you start

You need the TiDani desktop app, signed in to your workspace. The browser version cannot share a computer’s folders.

Steps

  1. Open Knowledge, then This computer.
  2. Press Add folders. Pick a folder with your system’s own file picker. Press Add files to share single files instead.
  3. Wait for the first read. TiDani reads the files once to build a search index on this computer. A big folder can take a few minutes.
  4. Open Ask and try a question only those files can answer. The answer lists the files it came from.

New and changed files are picked up on their own. If answers seem to be missing something, use Read changed files now, or Read everything again, under This computer.

What leaves this computer? Your files and their index stay here. When someone asks a question, only the passages that help answer it travel, encrypted, to TiDani’s servers, and they are not kept. See how we handle data.

Skip some files

Under This computer there is a list called Files to skip. Write one pattern per line, such as *.tmp or node_modules/. TiDani will never read files that match. Press save, then read your files again so the list applies to what was already read.

Decide who can read what

By default, everyone who can use the computer can read all of its files. To keep some files for certain people only, add an access rule.
